As part of the major refurbishment of the Barbican Arts Centre in 2006 we were briefed to produce a hard-wearing and moveable sofa system that could be used in all of the different foyer areas. The system needed to complement the clean modernist lines of the Barbican building and some pieces needed to include individual arm dividers on the sofas. We worked with SCP Contracts and SCP designer Terence Woodgate to develop the Slow sofa, a product already in the SCP range but at that point it had been designed for domestic use and needed further product development.
Over a period of months we worked closely with all parties on development until the final installation in December 2006.
